Jacks-or-Better Electronic-Poker Technique

  • In any hand with a Jack, unless the hand is already a winner! – four to an open-ended Straight, four to some Flush or 3 to some Straight Flush or Royal Flush – reject all cards only keeping the Jack
  • In any hand holding only 1 card Jack or better, keep the individual high card and refuse all other cards and redraw.
  • In any hand having one pair lower than Jacks, keep the pair and reject all other cards – unless the hand is four to a Straight or four to some Flush
  • In any hand with a 2-pair, preserve both pair and reject the odd-card.
  • In any hand holding 3-of-a-kind preserve the 3-of-a-kind and refuse the other 2 cards.
  • In any hand holding four into a Straight, hold all 4 Straight cards and re-draw – unless the Straight draw isn’t open-ended and the hand is with a Jack)
  • In any hand having 4 with a Flush, maintain the four Flush – unless the hand holds three to the Royal in which case you would draw to the Royal Flush
  • In any hand with four-of-a-kind, hold everything since a 1-card draw will not increase the cards.
  • In any hand having three to a Royal Flush, refuse everything else and go for that Royal – unless of course the hand is already a Sraight Flush!

Practice these methods while betting – perhaps even use to refer to the Basic Video Poker strategies until they become second nature. Go on …acquire the skill and hit those machines!
