Video Poker is a popular game that usually will be wagered on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your home computer, using a net account. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he or she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards are needed they will be handed out. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that discerning bettors are able to select the most profitable game each and every instance.
After the first round has finished, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
